Fiona Austin Director
Fiona established Austin Design Associates 17 years ago, specialising in residential interior design. After completing her education in fine art and design, she worked for several interior design magazines, including Home Beautiful, The Period Home Renovator and The Age Home section, as well as practicing as an interior designer. Previous experience includes working at the Stonehenge Group before establishing her own design practice.
Fiona enjoys working in collaboration with her clients, builders, cabinet makers, architects and building designers. Austin Design Associates has a particular interest in space planning, overall design outcomes and individual detailing to make each project distinctive.
Fiona also has a passion for 1950's-60's architecture - particularly in Beaumaris. She is married to a design academic and has two sons, one of whom is studying Communication design. Fiona has been a member of the Design Institute since 1983..
Jo Johnston Office Manager
As our office Manager, Jo is here to guide you through your project from the very beginning to help make the experience a smooth one. This includes looking after all the administration aspects of the job including contracts, questions you may have, client liason, right through to the quoting and purchasing of your new furniture. She is highly experienced in administration, accounting, and office management and has many furniture and accessory contacts to help you to complete your home. She also has a love of interior design, colour, furnishings and mid-century architecture, and feels lucky to combine all of these interests in her day to day work.
Lauren O'Brien Interior Designer
Lauren studied Architecture at Deakin University in Geelong. After working as an Architect for several years she developed a passion for Interior Design, with a strong interest in residential design in particular. Her love of creating spaces that are tailored to the individual client, and that are equally as functional as they are beautiful is her passion. She brings to Austin Design a strong technical knowledge founded from her Architectural background with the added focus of the Interior Design detail.
Sylvanna MitriInterior Designer
Sylvanna graduated with a Bachelor of Design from the Whitehouse Institute of Design. Her added experience working for a top designer furniture retailer also allowed her styling talent to grow along with her design work. Sylvanna brings to Austin design a passion for industrial design and property styling which is a new and exciting element to our team. She is always on the hunt for new and innovative pieces and believes a good design is one that makes someone feel connected and inspired. Bringing her designs into reality with attention to detail is the final finishing touch.
Jade BaldwinInterior Designer
Jade studied Interior Design at Swinburne University and has always had a passion for interiors and the way people interact and move within a space. She undertook Industry Placement in her third year of the course, which allowed her to grasp a great understanding of the industry, working in both commercial and residential interior design. Taking inspiration from her travels, the natural world and other cultural experiences, Jade takes pride in watching her design's unfold and believes good design can change the way we live and work.
Lauri UldrikisInterior Designer
Lauri has always been drawn to design and all things creative. After initially graduating with an Arts degree from The University of Melbourne, she studied at RMIT University and gained a Bachelor of Interior Design (Honours) degree. She is driven by a fascination for the relationship a person has with the space they inhabit, and the way design can influence the way we experience the everyday. Lauri believes that good design has the potential to not only create spaces that are functional and aesthetic but conducive to a positive wellbeing too.
